Kon’nichiwa!
Baseball games in Japan are a fun way to experience local team culture. There are 12 teams all over the country.
Below I have created an interactive map of baseball teams in Japan.
There are not only teams in Tokyo, but also between Tokyo and Kyoto, as well as between Kyoto and Hiroshima. These are among the most popular routes for a first trip to Japan,Β you may be able to add a game to your trip… as long as the team’s schedule works in your favor!
Now first, I want to let you know what’s on the map! The interactive map is at the bottom.

So, here’s what’s on the map!
If you want to go straight to the map, here you go: Japan baseball map
Tokyo area
There are 2 baseball teams in Tokyo itself, which are the Yomiuri Giants and the Yakult Swallows.
The Giants are the most popular baseball team in Japan, and they play at Tokyo Dome. The Tokyo Series between the LA Dodgers and Chicago Cubs was played here in 2025, as well as early-round games of the World Baseball Classic in 2026. This is the former team of Tomoyuki Sugano and Kazuma Okamoto.
The Swallows have a fun umbrella cheer and play at Meiji Jingu Stadium, which was part of the 1934 All-American tour where Babe Ruth played. This tour aimed to promote baseball in Japan, and it’s often credited for greatly increasing Japan’s popularity of baseball. Munetaka Murakami played for the Swallows.
The Meiji Jingu Stadium will soon be no more so visit this historic baseball stadium while you still can!
There are also 3 more baseball teams just outside of Tokyo that you can see during your stay in Tokyo.
The Chiba Lotte Marines play at Zozo Marine Stadium, about 1 hour 15 minutes by train from Shinjuku Station in central Tokyo. This is the former team of Roki Sasaki, and it’s also the stadium he pitched a perfect game. Stay a couple of nights in Makuhari, so you can be a 15 minute walk from the baseball stadium, as well as a 20 minute train ride from Tokyo Disneyland and Disneysea.
The Saitama Seibu Lions play at Belluna Dome, about an hour from Shinjuku Station. Arrive for the game a couple of hours early so you can walk to the Totoro Forest that is a 20 minute walk from the stadium!
The Yokohama DeNA Baystars play at Yokohama Stadium, about 50 minutes from Shinjuku Station. This is the former team of Shota Imanaga. Spend a couple of nights in Yokohama to go see a baseball game, as well as explore Yokohama, Kamakura, and Enoshima. Yokohama is also a shinkansen stop, so you can go direct to Kyoto from here.

Tokyo to Kyoto
Located at a convenient shinkansen stop between Tokyo and Kyoto, Nagoya is home to the Chunichi Dragons. You can see them play at the Vantelin Dome and use the city as a base for 1-2 nights to see a baseball game, as well as to do a day trip the Nakasendo samurai trail and/or Ise City!
Tokyo to Kyoto is the most popular tourist route.
Kyoto to Hiroshima
Kyoto doesn’t have a baseball team, but you can do a day trip from Kyoto to the Osaka area baseball teams, although it will be a late return back, possibly around 12:30am. (If it’s a day game, great!)
There are 2 teams in the Osaka and Kobe area.
The Hanshin Tigers play atΒ Hanshin Koshien Stadium, near Osaka and Kobe. After the Yomiuri Giants in Tokyo, the Hanshin Tigers are the next most popular team in Japan. Koshien Stadium is also a legendary baseball stadium in Japan, home to the famous high school baseball tournaments. This was the national stage where Shohei Ohtani and Yu Darvish got their start to fame.
The most popular teams also mean that tickets are more likely to sell out quicker, including when they are the away team!
The other Osaka team you can see is the Orix Buffaloes who play at Kyocera Dome. This is the former team of Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Masataka Yoshida.
Then further along in Hiroshima, the Toyo Carp play at Mazda Zoom Zoom Station. This is Seiya Suzuki’s old team. Stay a couple of nights in Hiroshima so you can go see baseball, the Hiroshima peace park, and the Miyajima floating shrine. On your way to Hiroshima, stop by Himeji Castle.
Kyoto to Hiroshima is also a popular tourist route.
More teams in the north and south
Now venturing off the typical tourist trail, there are also baseball teams in Northern Japan and Kyushu in Southern Japan.
There are no baseball teams in Shikoku or Okinawa.
The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters play at Es Con Field, which is just outside of Sapporo. This is Shohei Ohtani’s former team, as well as Yu Darvish. Make a few nights in Sapporo a part of your trip to Northern Japan.
Along the way, you can also stop by Sendai, a shinkansen stop between Tokyo and Hokkaido, to see the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles play at Rakuten Mobile Park Miyagi.
And on the other end of the country in Kyushu, the SoftBank Hawks play at Mizuho PayPay Dome in Fukuoka.
