Kon’nichiwa!
Below I have created an interactive map of what’s around Yokohama cruise port. This includes where most cruise ships dock in Yokohama, as well as hotels near the cruise port. I’ve also included things to do in Yokohama before your cruise around Japan.
But first I want to explain what’s on the map, and hopefully that will give you a better understanding of Yokohama cruise port!

So, here’s what’s on the map!
If you want to go straight to the map, here you go: Yokohama cruise port map
Where cruise ships dock in Yokohama
On my map below, the Yokohama cruise ports are marked with a yellow anchor pin.
There are several cruise terminals in Yokohama. Most cruise ships dock at Osanbashi Pier, which is the Yokohama International Cruise Terminal. Some cruise ships dock at Daikoku Pier. You can take a taxi to/from both cruise ports, in which case it’s simple. (And that is if you’re not staying at a hotel within walking distance of the cruise port, which is possible.)
Main Yokohama cruise port: The Yokohama International Cruise Terminal is the Osanbashi Pier cruise port, and it’s located between Minato Mirai and Yamashita Park, and it’s relatively easy to get to and from on your own. If your cruise ship is docked here, you can be happy that it’s the more convenient Yokohama cruise port. You can walk right off the cruise ship and within 15-20 minutes be at the Red Brick Warehouse or Yamashita Park. The nearest train station to Osanbashi Pier is Nihon-Odori Station (10-15 minute walk). If you stay at a hotel in Minato Mirai or near Yamashita Park, then a taxi to the cruise port will probably be less than US$10.
Hotels near Yokohama International Cruise Terminal
It’s possible to stay at a hotel that’s a 10-15 minute walk from the cruise port, like at Citadines Harbor Front hotel or the Hyatt Regency Yokohama, which are both like a 5 minute walk from the nearest train station (Nihon-Odori Station).
Yokohama Daikoku Pier cruise terminal is a bit more inconvenient if you want to do things independently, but it’s fine. From central Yokohama, it’s across the big and long bridge, so you can’t just walk off the cruise ship and do things and go places on your own. There will likely be a free shuttle offered to get between Daikoku Pier and Yamashita Park. In that case, once you’re at Yamashita Park, you can easily walk places on your own. The nearest train station to the Yamashita Park shuttle is Motomachi-Chukagai Station (5-10 minute walk). I was on cruise ships that docked at Daikoku Pier. Both times there was a free shuttle. If you stay at a hotel in Minato Mirai or near Yamashita Park, then a taxi to the cruise port will probably be around US$10.
See the map for the Yamashita Park cruise shuttle pick-up location. For purposes of finding a shuttle, Yamashita Park is big, so you don’t want to just blindly show up anywhere.
Hotels near Daikoku Pier cruise shuttle pick-up
It’s possible to stay at a hotel that’s a 5-minute walk from the Daikoku pier cruise ship, like at Hotel New Grand.
Citadines Harbor Front hotel or the Hyatt Regency Yokohama are also about a 15-minute walk.
So your first order of business is finding out which cruise port your cruise ship is docking at.
You can log into your cruise line’s account and look at the cruise itinerary to see if it tells you. It seems like some cruise lines give more details, and some less. So it may or may not be there.
There is also a cruise ship schedule that is put out by the City of Yokohama, and it includes what pier every cruise ship docks at. Although as I write this, the 2026 schedule has only been released through March.
For your March cruise, the Diamond Princess and Westerdam dock at Osanbashi pier. Celebrity Millennium has cruises that dock at both Osanbashi (3/16) and Daikoku (3/28). Spectrum of the Seas docks at Daikoku.
Check to see if the schedule has been updated further: Schedule of passenger ships arriving at Yokohama Port (2026 schedule)
If it doesn’t automatically translate, look for the translation setting on your device.
According to the 2025 Yokohama cruise port schedule:
- Diamond Princess almost always docked at Osanbashi
- Celebrity Millennium almost always docked at Osanbashi, but did also dock at Daikoku
- NCL almost always docked at Osanbashi, but did also dock at Daikoku and Shinko (Norwegian Spirit, Norwegian Sun)
- Holland America always docked at Osanbashi (Westerdam, Noordam)
- Royal Caribbean always docked at Daikoku (Spectrum of the Seas, Ovation of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas)
- Cunard’s Queen Elizabeth always docked at Daikoku
If you want to know about your 2026 Yokohama cruise port departure now, you can try e-mailing the Yokohama Port. I e-mailed them to ask if there will be a free shuttle to Daikoku Pier for my specific cruise ship and date and got a reply. It did take a follow-up in order to get a response. When I didn’t hear from them after a couple of weeks, I emailed again and got an immediate response.
Tokyo airports (near Yokohama)
On my map below, airports are marked with a black plane pin.
It’s always a good idea to arrive at least a day before your cruise starts to account for potential flight delays… and so you can be rested up to start your cruise! I would say for a long international flight, it’s a good idea to arrive at least 2 days before your cruise starts.
Tokyo has 2 international airports, which are Haneda Airport (HND) and Narita Airport (NRT). The airport closest to Yokohama and central Tokyo (like Shinjuku) is Haneda Airport. Whether you’re staying in Tokyo or Yokohama, Haneda airport is the better airport to fly into since it’s closer. But both airports have convenient access to Yokohama and central Tokyo, so it’s fine if you fly into Narita. It will just take more time from Narita.
Private transfer to Yokohama from airport
Your stress-free way of getting from the airport is to take a private transfer from Haneda Airport to Yokohama or Tokyo.
You can also get a private transfer from Narita airport to Yokohama or to central Tokyo.
Airport to Yokohama train
The train is convenient if you feel comfortable carrying your luggage around. Look for elevator signs at train stations. You can buy train tickets at the ticket machine when you arrive. Look for the English language button. Use google maps to help you navigate.
Haneda airport to Yokohama Station is 30 minutes by train.
This is a local train. Buy your IC card at the ticket machine when you arrive at the train station!
Narita airport to Yokohama Station is 2 hours by train.
The direct train from Narita to Yokohama is a “limited express train.” It’s called the Narita Express. For limited express trains, it’s easiest to buy individual train tickets, which you can do so at the ticket machine when you arrive at the train station. (IC cards won’t cover the full cost of limited express trains.)
Limousine bus to Yokohama from airport
Your convenient cheap option if you have big luggage is a “limousine bus” or “highway bus.” This is not a local bus. As a highway bus or limousine bus, it means that there’s a separate luggage compartment below the bus. So you don’t need to be dragging your big luggage around train stations. Once you arrive at the airport, you will look for signs to the bus ticket counter, and you can buy your bus ticket at that time. Both Haneda airport and Narita airport have limousine buses to Yokohama and central Tokyo.
Yokohama airport bus
Yokohama is in Kanagawa prefecture.
Hotels: Where to stay in Yokohama
On my map below, hotels in Yokohama are marked with a magenta bed pin.
Hotels near Yokohama cruise port
The Citadines Harbor Front hotel and the Hyatt Regency Yokohama are a 10-15 minute walk from Yokohama International Cruise Terminal (Osanbashi pier), and also about a 15 minute walk to the Daikoku pier cruise shuttle. Or it’s a quick taxi that will likely be US$5-10. They are also about a 5 minute walk from the nearest train station, Nihon-Odori Station, as well as Yamashita Park. It’s about a 10 minute walk to Yokohama Stadium.
Citadines Harbor Front hotel: Read the reviews on expedia or booking.com.
Hyatt Regency Yokohama: Read the reviews on expedia or booking.com.
Minato Mirai hotel
The area of Minato Mirai is a perfect place to stay because you get easy access to Yokohama’s waterfront, shopping, and trains all in one compact walkable area. It’s modern with a relaxing bayside vibe. The Mitsui Garden Hotel is just minutes by foot from the waterfront. It’s a 5-10 minute walk to the nearest train station (Minatomirai Station), then a 5-minute train ride to the train station near cruise port, which is a 15 minute walk to the cruise port. Or it’s a 10 minute drive from the hotel to cruise port, so maybe US$5-10 by taxi.

Top Yokohama attractions
On my map below, the top Yokohama attractions are marked with a pink pin.
Minato Minai is a popular waterfront area that’s also known for its night skyline views, so it’s a place to go for an evening walk. You can also take the Yokohama Air Cabin near Sakuragicho Station to get views from above too. Rinko Park is the Minato Mirai waterfront park.
Yokohama Chinatown is Japan’s biggest Chinatown. You can walk around Chinatown on your own to see Chinese temples and look for authentic Chinese food, or get to know it better through a Chinatown walking tour. Motomachi-Chukagai Station is near Chinatown.
Yokohama is known for ramen museums. There’s the Cup Noodles Museum (where you can do a fun noodle-making activity) and/or the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum to try specialty ramen from regions across Japan.
Cup Noodles Museum: reviews
Shin-Yokohama Museum: reviews
The Sankei-en Garden is Yokohama’s most famous garden where you can see traditional Japanese gardening, as well as historical Japanese buildings. You can also make this your spot to drink matcha in Yokohama. You can get to Sankei-en Garden by bus or taxi.
The Red Brick Warehouse is a waterfront area to walk around with shops and seasonal events. It’s a reflection of Yokohama’s international port history. Reviews.
Noge food alley is one of Yokohama’s best known evening food areas for locals, where you can find a bunch of izakaya food spots. It’s within walking distance of Sakuragicho Station, a gateway to Minato Mirai.
Yokohama day trip ideas
On my map below, Yokohama day trip ideas are marked with a deep red pin.
Yokohama to Tokyo
If you’re staying in Yokohama, the most obvious day trip from Yokohama is to Tokyo! You can take a look at the Tokyo attractions map to see what interests you, but Shibuya Station or Shibuya Station are good places to start. This will give you total city vibes. In Shibuya, you’ll find one of the most famous Tokyo streets, the Shibuya scramble crossing. In Shinjuku, you’ll find famous evening food streets. It’s around 40-50 minutes from the area around the Yokohama cruise port to Tokyo by train.
Or keep it simple by going to Shinjuku Station for an organized one-day Tokyo bus tour and leave the planning to someone else while still seeing tons of very-Tokyo things!
Yokohama to Kamakura
Kamakura is one of the best places near Yokohama to experience traditional Japan. You can visit temples and shrines, as well as go to see a Great Buddha and have matcha at a bamboo forest tea house. Kamakura is one of the most popular day trips from Tokyo, and you’ll be closer to it from Yokohama. Yokohama Station to Kamakura Station is around 30 minutes by train. Tokyo to Kamakura is around 1 hour by train.
Yokohama to Enoshima
Enoshima is an island that involves lots of walking to see small shrines, dragon statues, and caves. It’s common to do Kamakura and Enoshima in one day. And again, you’re closer from Yokohama compared to Tokyo. Yokohama Station to Enoshima Station is around 40 minutes by train. Tokyo to Enoshima is around 1 hour 10 minutes by train.
Yokohama to Odawara Castle
Odawara is known for Odawara Castle so this can be your castle visit in Japan if you won’t have an opportunity elsewhere. The castle is within walking distance of the train station, and there’s also a small foot onsen near Odawara Station to soak your feet in minerals after your walk. And once again, it’s closer from Yokohama compared to Tokyo. Yokohama Station to Odawara Station is 1 hour by local train. It’s 15 minutes by shinkansen bullet train from Shin-Yokohama Station to Odawara Station if you won’t have another chance to experience the bullet train. Tokyo to Odawara Station is around 1 hour 10 minutes by local train, and 35 minutes by shinkansen. Odawara is a gateway for the popular Tokyo day trip to Hakone. If you decide to stay in Tokyo, you can do an organized day trip to Hakone from Tokyo that includes a return by bullet train.
See the Japan castle map.
Notable train stations in Yokohama and Tokyo
On my map below, notable train stations are marked with a black pin.
Sakuragicho Station
A gateway to the popular Minato Mirai waterfront area. (Note that it is not the only train station in the Minato Mirai area.)
Motomachi-Chukagai Station
A gateway to Yokohama Chinatown and Yamashita Park, about a 5 minute walk to both. Train station closest to the Yamashita Park cruise shuttle to Daikoku cruise port.
Nippon-Odori Station
Train station closest to the main Yokohama cruise port (Yokohama International Cruise Terminal at Osanabashi Pier), about a 15 minute walk.
Yokohama Station
A gateway to Yokohama and easy access for day trips.
Shin-Yokohama Station
This is the train station near the Shin-Yokohama Ramen Museum. This is a shinkansen bullet train stop.
How to pay for local train tickets
The easiest way to pay for local train tickets (and local bus fares!) in Yokohama, Tokyo, and across Japan, is to get yourself an IC card! This is basically a transportation cash card. Then all you need to do is tap to pay. You won’t need to keep buying individual tickets. You can buy the IC card at the first train station you go to in Yokohama or Tokyo. There are different types of IC cards, like a suica card or pasmo card, and it really doesn’t matter which one you get. The specific type you get will be determined by which train station you go to, as it will sell one or the other.
Most cruise ports that you go to in Japan will have worthy things to do by train or bus that you can do on your own. It’s very likely that the local trains and local buses of most (if not all) of the port cities you visit will accept the IC card that you buy in Yokohama or Tokyo. So getting an IC card before your cruise will also make it easy to take public transportation in the other ports you go to.
So even if don’t have plans to go anywhere by train BEFORE your cruise, but you do want to explore cruise ports on your own DURING your cruise around Japan, then I recommend going to your nearest train station anyway so you can buy an IC card! (And maybe even take a train ride just to try it out. 🤪)
It really makes it easy to pay for local train tickets and bus fares, and you can even use it at some convenience stores and vending machines too. You do need cash to load up the IC card, which you can do so at ticket machines at train stations.
How to know train routes and bus routes
To navigate around Tokyo and Yokohama by train and bus, use google maps! It’s very helpful and really all you need to figure out which train and bus to take in Yokohama and beyond. Use the public transportation option. It will also tell you the estimated cost. And yes, you can use it for public transportation in other cruise ports as well! So if you want to explore Japan cruise ports on your own, it’s very helpful to be able to use data through your phone. Pocket wifi is also a thing in Japan.
Luggage storage at train stations
Train stations in Yokohama have “coin lockers” which work as self-service storage lockers that you can use for luggage storage. There are coin lockers at Yokohama Station, Shin-Yokohama Station, Motomachi-Chukagai Station, Sakuragicho Station, and more. For an example on how coin lockers work, see about the Yokohama coin lockers I used. It’s standard for there to be coin lockers at major train stations (and even some smaller ones) in Yokohama and across Japan too.
