Here’s what a simple overnight in Kamakura can look like:
You can do a morning activity in Tokyo, and then go to Kamakura. Do things walking from Hase Station on the afternoon of your arrival, sleep, then the morning of the next day, go for a sunrise walk on the beach, return back to the hotel for breakfast, and then do the things near Kamakura Station… and then onwards you go to Enoshima and/or further! After Enoshima, you can go to the city of Odawara (where there’s a castle) to get on a shinkansen bullet train to Kyoto! Kamakura can be a detour between Tokyo and Kyoto.

What my itinerary was like when I went to Kamakura
I took 2 days to go from Tokyo to Kyoto. After staying a few nights in Tokyo at the Grand Prince Hotel Shin Takanawa near Shinagawa Station, this is what I did on the way to Kyoto Station:
Day 1: I left for Kamakura in the afternoon and went to the Great Buddha and Hasedera Temple, walking from Hase Station. Then I stayed overnight at Kamakura Hotel, which was a walk of a few minutes from Kamakura Station.
Day 2: From Kamakura Station, I went to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine and the bamboo forest tea house. Then, I went to Enoshima Station, and then walked to Enoshima Island and the caves there. After that, I went to Odawara Station to walk to Odawara Castle! Then, back to the train station to go to Kyoto by shinkansen!
I used the coin lockers at the train station for luggage storage in Kamakura, Enoshima, and Odawara. (Example: Odawara Station coin lockers!)
